Heritage Day: Kids' Workshop “From Ore to Iron”

Children’s Program, Guided Tour, and Blacksmithing Demonstration at the Steyr City Museum on Heritage Day

On Sunday, September 27, 2026, Austria’s nationwide Heritage Day, under the motto “Heritage: Value for Everyone,” invites visitors to rediscover historic sites.

The Steyr City Museum will open its doors with free admission and offer exciting insights into history, craftsmanship, and historic preservation.

At the kids’ workshop “From Ore to Iron Tip” at 10:15 a.m., children and their adult companions will learn fun facts about iron processing and the metal’s significance for the region in a playful way.

The meeting point for the kids’ event is at the museum ticket office starting at 10:00 a.m. 

From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., traditional craftsmanship comes to life during a blacksmithing demonstration in the historic smithy. 

Admission is free!

- 11:00 a.m.: Guided tour of the Innerberger Stadel, focusing on the history of the house and the building’s renovation
