Yes, especially in the high season it is advisable to book your overnight stay in good time, as places are limited.
Dogs are allowed in some huts, but often only by prior arrangement!
The huts can usually be reached on foot or by cable car. Some huts can also be reached by car (e.g. on the Hengstpass).
