Democracy Week — “Democracy in Action in Steyr”

Guided tour of sites and memorials in Steyr of interest from a democratic perspective, featuring informational and musical elements. This alternative city tour aims to raise awareness of just how much effort and sacrifice went into securing the democracy we take for granted, and to honor its pioneers.

Democracy Week:
Between October 19 and 26, 2026, an engaged civil society united under the umbrella of BÜNDNIS 2025 will come together to celebrate Democracy Week throughout Austria: A diverse range of events, engaging discussions, creative activities, and participatory formats will bring people across Austria together and encourage them to engage in dialogue.

What’s it all about?

It’s about solidarity in our society, freedom of expression and assembly, freedom of the press and information, the independence of the judiciary, and human and minority rights. And it’s about justice for and within our society. Who? All initiatives and organizations, clubs, schools, and engaged individuals of all ages are invited to participate in Democracy Week 2026 and show what democracy can be—active, diverse, spirited, colorful, creative, joyful, sensible, solution-oriented, in tune with the times, exciting, based on solidarity, aware of problems, and sustainable…
