Heritage Day: Free admission all day at the Steyr City Museum

Children’s Program, Guided Tour, and Blacksmithing Demonstration at the Steyr City Museum

On Sunday, September 27, 2026, the Austria-wide Heritage Day, themed “Heritage: Value for Everyone,” invites visitors to rediscover historic sites.

The Steyr City Museum will open its doors with free admission and offer exciting insights into history, craftsmanship, and historic preservation.

From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., traditional craftsmanship comes to life during a blacksmithing demonstration in the historic smithy. At the kids’ workshop “From Ore to Iron Tip,” starting at 10:15 a.m., children and their adult companions will learn fun facts about ironworking and the metal’s significance for the region in a playful way.

At 11:00 a.m., a guided tour of the Innerberger Stadel begins, focusing on the history of the house and the building’s restoration.

Heritage Day offers a unique opportunity to experience history right where it took place—on-site, authentically, and accessible to all generations. In addition, numerous other events in Steyr on this day invite visitors to discover the city’s rich historical diversity.
