Steyr Christmas Market Promenade

An atmospheric market on the idyllic Promenade Avenue, featuring children’s activities, a children’s carousel, and a children’s train

The atmospheric Christmas market on the Steyr Promenade has been around since 1998. Around 30 vendors are there to treat you to culinary delights—grilled sausages, traditional “Holzknechtnocken,” raclette sandwiches, Ischl gingerbread, potato curls, waffles, Swiss stone pine schnapps, and, of course, mulled apple cider, punch, and mulled wine.

In addition, Christmas gifts are also on offer: wickerwork, floral arrangements, bonnets, hats, honey and honey products, beeswax candles, wallets,...

The Steyr Christmas Market has a special place in its heart for children. While moms and dads sample the treats and ponder which gifts to choose for their loved ones, our young visitors can enjoy a “flight” on the Christmas plane, a ride on the children’s carousel, or a trip on the festive children’s train. What’s more, young visitors have the unique opportunity at this market to meet the Christ Child in person!

Familiar fairy-tale characters can be spotted among the booths. At a craftsman’s booth, you can not only sample the traditional “Nocken” snacks enjoyed by forest workers but also watch how traditional wooden shingles are made.

• November 29: The Steyr Christmas Elf reads fairy tales at 3:00 p.m., Linz alphorn players at 4:30 p.m.
