Forsterhof Veterinary Practice - Dipl. Veterinarian Brit Fanta - Veterinary practice for horses & small animals - Warmblood breeding.

About me:

I graduated from the Ramsauer Gymnasium in 1994. Since I had discovered my love for horses and riding several years earlier, I wanted to turn my hobby into a profession. In October 1994, I began my studies to become a licensed veterinarian with a focus on "Equine Medicine" at the Veterinary Medical University in Vienna. I completed this program in October 2000. After that, I completed mandatory internships in Australia, New Zealand, and various clinics in Austria. I had my graduation ceremony in April 2001. Now, the work could begin. In May 2001, I took a position as an assistant veterinarian in the practice of Dr. Bach in Heidelberg, Germany. Here, I cared for small animals, horses, and farm animals, as well as the Heidelberg Zoo. For some time, I had the idea of opening my own practice with a focus on horses and buying a farm for horsekeeping. In November 2004, this dream came true. Together with a friend, I bought a farm near Bad Hall in Upper Austria, the former Forsterhof. We faced significant cleanup and renovation work, which we tackled energetically. On January 17, 2005, I opened my "Forsterhof Veterinary Practice" for small animals and horses. In April 2006, we were also able to accommodate horses from outside and offer riding lessons for children alongside our own horses. This was not new to me, as I had already cared for horses and given riding lessons at various riding farms during my studies as a summer job. There was also an upward trend observable here. With a focus on "species-appropriate horsekeeping," we were also on the right track with our horse farm. In April 2008, we were able to build an indoor riding arena. Today, we have 31 horses, 10 of which are our own. We have 15 cats, four goats, and three dogs. In 2009, we began breeding the horse breed "Austrian Warmblood." Our mare had her foal in April 2011. Throughout the summer holidays, we offer riding holidays for children. The veterinary practice is now equipped with portable digital X-ray and ultrasound. I am always at the service of horses, dogs, and more, and I now know that I have taken exactly the right path. Thanks to a good education and hard work, my friend and I were able to fulfill my great childhood dream: living with and for animals.
