At the Seidl Pumpkin Farm of the Wieser/Rebhandl family, there have been various edible and decorative pumpkins since 2015. Bettina accidentally discovered pumpkins during her master’s training (Rural Business and Household Management) and made it her project topic. Since then, it has been "Learning by doing." Basic knowledge was acquired through the project work and has been expanded year by year through valuable experiences.
We do without all pesticides or other aids! Instead of slug pellets, we have ducks, and weeds are pulled by hand. Only when there is enough sun and rain can we look forward to great pumpkins in the fall. Every single step of the work is personally carried out by us...from sowing to harvest!
Our farm is located on the outskirts of Spital am Pyhrn, adjacent to the Edlbach golf course and swimming lake. In 2017, we transitioned from dairy farming to raising heifers and take care of our pumpkins on the side during the summer months. Right at our farm entrance, there is a small self-service sales stand during harvest time, offering a colorful mix of decorative pumpkins as well as a rich selection of edible pumpkins.
