Silence and starry skies. **Vorderstoder** is one of the highest mountain villages in Upper Austria and is nestled between the Spitzmauer, Grosser and Kleiner Priel. In the south of the 360° Alpenland, a landscape opens up here that makes the vastness tangible: Alpine pastures, clear mountain lakes such as Schafferteich and Windhagersee and paths that lead higher step by step. Hiking to the Zellerhütte or the Stoderer Weitblick, the Alpine panorama spreads out - a silent dialogue between man and mountain. At the same time, life in the valley remains grounded. Traditions such as Almabtrieb and Kirchtag tell of living culture, regional cuisine of craftsmanship and origin. Paths through time. Anyone walking through Vorderstoder today quickly realises that this village in the south of 360° Alpenland has a history that is clearly visible. Between meadows, farms and views of the mountains of Upper Austria, every path tells of previous generations who reclaimed the land and lived in community here. Slavic tribes settled here after the Migration Period, followed later by Bavarian and Frankish families. Around 1170, planned clearing began and the Stodertal came into the possession of the Hospital am Pyhrn. In 1492, 65 farmsteads were already recorded - a sign of a growing community in the Alpine region. The parish church, consecrated to St Leopold in 1507, still characterises the townscape today. Its bells, dating back to 1401, are among the oldest in Upper Austria and combine the present with the sound of past centuries. Turbulent times have also left their mark: in 1597, death sentences were carried out following a peasant uprising. Later, Vorderstoder changed from an agricultural village to a place where tourism and nature experiences opened up new perspectives. Tourism developed from the 19th century onwards and the Pyhrnbahn railway strengthened the connection to the region. Today, Vorderstoder is nestled between mountains, hiking trails and living culture. History is not preserved here as a museum, but is part of everyday life - in church festivals, in the way people interact with each other and in a conscious approach to landscape and tradition. In this way, in the heart of Upper Austria, the past is combined with the present - quiet, down-to-earth and close to the nature of the Alps.
