Travel ideas for groups in 360° Alpenland
=========================================

### Travelling together. Impressions that stay with you. Mountain paths and town squares. Nature and culture.

In 360° Alpenland in the heart of Upper Austria, travel ideas for groups are close together. From the mountain world between Pyhrn and Priel to guided tours in the Kalkalpen National Park and the 1,000-year-old town of Steyr, movement and encounters are combined. Hikes on alpine pastures, cycle tours along the river valleys, cultural tours or enjoyable stops at regional producers create shared experiences with substance. Bad Hall also provides a conscious counterpoint with its thermal waters and peaceful moments. Short distances lead from summits to museums, from nature to history. The result is a group tour in 360° Alpine country that allows you to experience Upper Austria in all its diversity.

A journey through the 360° Alpenland
------------------------------------

### Mountains and the city. Nature and culture. Peace and quiet and adventure.

Experience the region in all its diversity.
The 360° Alpenland offers a varied holiday experience in the heart of Upper Austria – authentic, expansive and full of possibilities. Adventures in every direction.

[continue reading ](javascript:void())**Day 1 – Panoramic Views & Cheese Culture**
Up high on the Höss in Hinterstoder: take the mountain railway up into the mountains between Pyhrn and Priel. From the midway station, a short path leads to the Schafkogelsee reservoir. In winter, this serves as a water reserve for the snow-making systems on the Höss ski slopes. In summer, it’s a panoramic spot brimming with energy, set against a stunning mountain backdrop.
A circular walk, sweeping horizons, a stop for refreshments at the mountain inn. Then the descent back down into the valley.

In the afternoon, the Frech farm cheese dairy in Vorderstoder opens its doors. Between the cowshed and the maturing room, the craft of cheese-making comes to life. From milk to cheese – step by step. Tasting included.
A day spent amidst the mountain air and alpine culture.

**Day 2 – Sound, Embers & Pen**
In Molln, a centuries-old craft lives on: in the jaw harp workshops, the original Molln jaw harp is created from iron, fire and delicate craftsmanship – handcrafted and passed down through the generations. The ‘Production of the Molln Jew’s Harp’ has been recognised as Intangible Cultural Heritage in Austria and embodies living tradition in the 360° Alpine region.
Afterwards, embers and craftsmanship take centre stage: at the Kremstal Barbecue School at the Mayr Gourmet and Experience Farm in Schlierbach, culinary delight becomes a shared experience. Here, people don’t just barbecue side by side, but together – personally guided by Georg Mayr, national barbecue champion and world runner-up.

Afterwards, the route leads to the Baroque Schlierbach Abbey. A guided tour of the monastery grounds and abbey church, with an optional cheese tasting from the abbey’s own cheese dairy. Culture and cuisine intertwine.

In the evening: a night watchman’s tour of Steyr. A night watchman in traditional costume, armed with a halberd, horn and lantern, recounts all manner of tales and legends and shows you the most beautiful spots in the medieval romantic town of Steyr. Includes a climb up the tower of the town parish church – a magnificent view guaranteed!

**Day 3 – Craftsmanship & Waterways**
In the ‘Valley of the Feitelmakers’ in Trattenbach, a 500-year-old tradition of craftsmanship lives on. The Trattenbach ‘Taschenfeitel’ is still made today using traditional techniques. Workshops and a themed trail bring this history to life.

Then it’s off onto the water:

Option 1:
Raft trip with a snack or barbecue on the River Enns. The raft drifts slowly downstream, accompanied by regional delicacies. Nature that moves you.

or

Option 2:
Viking boat trip with cider tasting. Row together, feel the rhythm – and then savour the culture of cider in your glass. Heritage that tastes good.

A programme between the reservoir and the town square.
Between the workbench and the water.
Where nature and people come together.

In the footsteps of the ironworking tradition
---------------------------------------------

### Experience traditional craftsmanship in the 360° Alpenland

Between Erzberg and the 1,000-year-old town of Steyr, a journey through centuries of iron-making heritage unfolds – in the 360° Alpine region, where nature and culture have always been intertwined.

[continue reading ](javascript:void())At the **Erzberg**, the guided tour of the exhibition mine takes you deep into the world of the miners, before the massive haulage car rolls through the open-cast mine. Along the **Nagelschmiedweg** and in the historic **Brandstätter Hammer**, traditional crafts come to life – as they do at the historic **Lindermayr horseshoe and hoe smithy** in Spital am Pyhrn, which is now run as a demonstration smithy. Here, too, you can shape red-hot iron yourself.
At the **Micheldorf Scythe Museum**, the history of one of Austria’s most important scythe-making workshops comes to life. At the original site of the former scythe forge in Gries, scythes were produced for worldwide export for over 400 years – a journey through 500 years of blacksmithing.
A **raft trip** on the River Enns evokes the days when timber and iron were transported by water. In Molln, the art of fine craftsmanship resonates in the **jaw harp** workshop – genuine skill that is still passed down to this day.
Finally, Steyr completes the historical picture: on a guided tour with the **Steyr night watchmen**, the squares and alleyways tell tales of trade, craftsmanship and living tradition.
A programme that brings together fire and water.
Stories that linger in the memory.

UNESCO World Heritage Site & living tradition
-------------------------------------------------

### in the 360°

Unique UNESCO World Heritage Sites bring centuries-old traditions to life in the 360° Alpine Region of Upper Austria: from the crafting of the Mollner jaw harp to the production of the original Trattenbach pocket fiddle. The craft of scythe-making and the protected beech forests in the Kalkalpen National Park have also been inscribed on the UNESCO list.

[continue reading ](javascript:void())Accompanied by the rangers of the **Kalkalpen National Park**, the UNESCO World Heritage Site **‘Ancient Beech Forests’** becomes a nature experience offering fascinating insights into the world of the wild forest. For 400 years now, **Molln** has been regarded as the centre of European **jaw harp** production, where this unique musical instrument is painstakingly handcrafted by family businesses spanning several generations.
In the **‘Valley of the Feitelmakers’**, the craft of making the **Trattenbach** pocket feitel lives on and can be experienced first-hand in the working workshops of the museum village.
A visit to the **Scythe Museum** in Micheldorf is a journey back in time to the 19th century. Authentically preserved buildings and numerous original artefacts bring to life the everyday lives of the industrial pioneers Caspar and Josepha Zeitlinger, their family, and their workers.
The 1,000-year-old town of Steyr bridges the cultural gap. A visit to the traditional **Steyrer Kripperl**, one of the last rod-puppet theatres still in operation in the German-speaking world,

A programme that spans the wilderness of the forest and the workbench.
Nature that moves you. Culture that endures.

To this day, traditional verses written by Rudolf Kusché back in the 1950s are still recited. The custom was first mentioned as early as 1860 and takes place every year on 5 December at around 5.30 pm, winding its way through the village, which is transformed into a living stage.
