Its roots go back to the 8th century: **Duke Tassilo III** founded Kremsmünster Abbey in 777 and gave it, among other things, a **small church on the "Sulzipach** " - today's Sulzbach. This early place of worship is identified with parish churches and marks the beginning of the close connection to Kremsmünster Abbey. In 1179, Pope Alexander III confirmed the monastery's possessions; the "church in Hall" is mentioned, meaning the church in Pfarrkirchen. In 1247 it is already explicitly documented as a parish church, and in **1378** the name **"Pfarrkirchen bei Hall"** appears for the first time. During the Reformation, parts of the aristocracy and the population joined the Lutheran doctrine and residents were also involved in the peasant uprising of 1598. The current **parish church of St George** was **remodelled in 1744 in the rococo style** and is considered a particularly beautiful example of a rural rococo church. The political municipality was established in 1861 and officially named "Pfarrkirchen bei Bad Hall" in 1910.
