Auch Anton Schosser fand dort seinen Trost. Schon seit Jahrhunderten war das frisch sprudelnde Brünnlein an der Eisenstraße, früher eher ein schmaler Saumpfad, Erfrischung für die Reisenden, wenn sie hier am Fuß des Schererbichls kurze Rast hielten. Quellen sind sehr häufig Orte uralter kultischer Verehrung von Gottheiten. In christlicher Zeit wurde am Blasibrunn eine Kreuzsäule angebracht. In der Zeit der Reformation, etwa um 1550, ist das Kreuz möglicherweise abgekommen, aber spätestens 1687 stand es schon wieder da und ein Opferstock dabei, „mit 14 Gulden Inhalt beim hl. Blasibrunnstock“, für diese Zeit eine ganz schöne Summe, die für die große Verehrung des Kirchenpatrons spricht. Pater Antonius Nöstlang ließ irgendwann zwischen 1725 und 1748 die Kapelle errichten. „Vor aller Zeit stand da ein Kreuz mit hölzernem Geländer; das Kreuz wurde nach Arzberg gebracht, und die Frauenkapelle auf Losensteinleitnerischem Gründe erbaut.“ 1772 wurde der Opferstock im Blasibrunn von einem durchziehenden Soldaten erbrochen. Die Muttergottesstatue kam vielleicht aus dem Kloster Garsten. Wie eine Untersuchung während der Renovierung im Jahr 1950 ergab, stammt sie aus gotischer Zeit. Die Barockkleidung ist gut erhalten. Der Sage nach soll das Bild auf der Enns angeschwemmt worden sein. Die vorbeifahrenden Flößeer nahmen bei der Kapelle die Hüte ab, die Menschen opferten und hofften auf die Fürbitte Mariens, aber auch auf das heilende Wasser, das für Augen- und Halsleiden gut war. Die Kapelle vermengt also die Andacht zum heiligen Blasius, die ursprünglich da war, mit der Marienverehrung im 17. Jahrhundert, wiesen auf die Heilkraft der Quelle für Halsleiden hin. Auch für die Augen dient die Quelle. Eine Sage berichtet, dass eine Bäuerin ihre Magd nach dem Blasibrunn geschickt habe, um ein heilendes Wasser für kranke Augen. Aber die Magd hat anderes Wasser aus der Enns oder aus einem Brunnen genommen und ist zur Strafe für diesen Betrug blind geworden. Durchziehende Soldaten und Reisende machten den Blasibrunn bekannt, sodass sogar die 1945 durch Losenstein fahrenden Ungarn ihn erwähnten. Ein Gutachten der Gemeinde Losenstein ergab als Wasserprobe gewöhnliches Wasser mit Spuren von Jod und von wechselnder Ergiebigkeit. In den Jahren 1977 und 1978 wurde die Kapelle erneuert und am 15. Juli 1978 wiedereröffnet und eingeweiht. Durch den Ausbau der Bundestraße in den Achtziger Jahren veränderte sich erneut der Charakter der Umgebung des Blasibrunn. Er ist durch halbrunde Dienste und abgetreppte Streben gegliedert. Im Chor befinden sich vier gotische Glasfenster, die die „Dornenkrönung“, die „Kreuzigung Christi“, „Christi Himmelfahrt“ sowie den „heiligen Oswald“ zeigen. Die Fenster entstanden um 1400. Am Chorgewölbe haben sich gotische Fresken von 1380 erhalten, die Symbole der Evangelisten, Propheten sowie Rankenwerk darstellen. Die Fresken wurden um 1905 restauriert, im Jahr 1951 erfolgte der Versuch einer Entfernung der Übermalungen. Das dreijochige Langhaus ist einschiffig und flachhängekuppelgewölbt. Der gotische Kirchturm steht im südlichen Chorwinkel. Die Schallfenster sind gotisch und der Turm ist mit einem Keildach gedeckt. Das Südportal und der Turmeingang sind ebenfalls gotisch. Der Volksaltar (1974) und das Bronzetor (1977) wurden nach Entwürfen des Linzer Bildhauers Peter Dimmel errichtet. In der Sakristei wurde 1951 ein gotisches Fresko aus der Zeit um 1400 entdeckt. Die Darstellung der Kreuzigung Christi und des Erzengels Michael wurden 1952 restauriert. Der Hochaltar wurde 1691 bis 1693 errichtet. Das Hochaltarbild wurde von Johann Karl von Reslfeld im Jahr 1691 gemalt. Der Tabernakel sowie die Ornamente wurden um 1775 im Stil des Rokoko geschaffen. Die barocke Kanzel entstand ebenfalls um 1775. Die Seitenaltäre sind im neobarocken Stil gehalten. In der Taufkapelle steht ein Taufstein von 1662 sowie eine Figurengruppe der heiligen Anna aus der ersten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts. Die Glocke wurde um 1340 gegossen. A couple of rules for fair play in the forest help to avoid conflicts whilst mountain biking. a.Pedestrians have the right of way: We are accommodating and friendly to pedestrians and hikers. Upon encountering these fellow travellers, we alert them by using the bicycle bell and slowly overtake them. We avoid paths with heavy pedestrian traffic altogether. Take nature into account: We do not leave refuse behind. b.The braking distance should be half of the total distance visible: We ride at a controlled pace, are ready to brake and maintain a braking distance half as long as the total distance visible, especially in curves, because we always have to count on obstacles on the path. Damage to the path, stones, branches, wood piles, grazing livestock, cattle grids, barriers, tractor-type forestry machines and authorised vehicles pose dangers that we need to be ready for. c.Don’t drink and drive!: Do not drink alcohol when mountain biking. Take care at stop-off points (dealing with bike racks, dirty shoes or clothing). It is obligatory to provide first aid! d.Marked routes, closed paths and blockades: Keep to the marked routes, observe the blockades and accept that these roads are primarily for agricultural and forestry use! Blockades can often not be avoided and are in your own interest. Biking beyond the intended path and outside of opening times is punishable and turns us into illegal bikers. e.We are guests in the forest and behave accordingly, including vis-à-vis forestry and hunting staff. Whilst mountain biking, mobile telephones and music players are forbidden! Biking requires your full attention. f.Avoid unnecessary noise. Out of consideration to the animals living in the wild, we only bike during full daylight. As a principle, we always wear our helmet (even when riding uphill)! Don’t forget emergency supplies: We always have a repair set and bandages along. g.Don’t overestimate your skills: We should not overdo it when it comes to biking technique and physical fitness. Take the level of difficulty posed by the route into consideration and make a precise estimate of your experience and skills as a biker (braking, bell, lights)! h.Close gates: We approach grazing livestock at a walking pace and close every gate behind us. We should avoid causing escape and panic reactions in the animals. Nothing stands in the way of the fun and athletic challenge in the mountains and forests! i.Traffic rules: The general traffic rules (StVO) apply for all the mountain biking routes and we adhere to them. Our bike therefore needs to be in perfect technical condition and equipped in line with the traffic rules, including brakes, a bell and lights.
