From Aschach to the Steyrtal cycle path via the bridge in Letten to Holzleiten in Pichlern. From Holzleiten to Sierning and further on the "Über drüber Landpartie" route to Wolfern, Gleink, Stadtgut Steyr and back to Steyr city center.**Directions:** Those who want to engage in additional physical activities besides cycling can train their entire body at Motorikpark Garsten, Aktivpark Holzleiten/Pichlern, Generationenpark Waldbad Wolfern, and Fitnesspark Stadtgut. Das Wahrzeichen der Stadt gilt als einer der besterhaltenen gotischen Profanbauten des Landes. Ein Teil des Gebäudes geht bis ins 13. Jh. zurück. Im 19. Jh. war hier das Wirtshaus "Zum Goldenen Löwen". Noch heute sieht man den Löwen als Aushängeschild. Den Besuchern der Gaststätte war dieser Löwe zu lieblich, sie nannten ihn "Bummerl" (= kleiner, dicker Hund). Im 16. Jh. wurden Zillen anstelle von Flößen eingesetzt, die bis zu 10 Tonnen flussabwärts transportieren konnten. Flussaufwärts wurden die mit Lebensmittel beladenen Zillen von Pferden auf eigenen Uferwegen, den sogenannten Treppelwegen, gezogen. Hochwasser: Immer wieder verursachte die Enns große Schäden durch Hochwasser. Die größte Überschwemmung erfolgte im Juli 1572 als das Wasser den Stadtplatz überschwemmte und viele Häuser und Teile der Stadtbefestigung einstürzten. Die meisten Häuser reichen vom Stadtplatz bis zum Ennsufer. Erst wenn man die Durchgänge und Höfe betritt, erkennt man das ganze Ausmaß. Die vielen Durchgänge und Gässchen prägen das Stadtbild. Von oben kann man ein wunderbares Panorama genießen. Der Blick reicht über den mittelalterlichen Stadtkern, den Zusammenfluss von Enns und Steyr bis in die Berge des Nationalparks Kalkalpen. In Zukunft wird eine Fahrt in dem Panoramalift ein Fixpunkt in jedem Spaziergang durch Steyr sein. Der Lift ist vom Stadtplatz fußläufig in wenigen Minuten erreichbar. Durch einen historischen Stollen, der zur Zeit des Zweiten Weltkrieges ein Luftschutzbunker war, gelangt man zum Lift. Er verbindet die historische Altstadt mit dem Stadtteil Tabor. Der Panoramalift von Architekt Helmut Reitter setzt auch gestalterisch neue Maßstäbe. Er ist gleichzeitig ein starkes, selbstbewusstes Zeichen und trotzdem minimiert im Design. Die Fahrt mit dem Floß war wegen der reißenden Strömungen und den großen Felsklippen sehr gefährlich. Im 16. Jh. wurden Zillen anstelle von Flößen eingesetzt, die bis zu 10 Tonnen flussabwärts transportieren konnten. Flussaufwärts wurden die mit Lebensmittel beladenen Zillen von Pferden auf eigenen Uferwegen, den sogenannten Treppelwegen, gezogen. **Steyrfluss** Der Steyr-Fluss entspringt in der Nähe der Baumschlagerreith (Ort Hinterstoder) im Toten Gebirge. Der Gebirgsfluss mit Trinkwasserqualität mündet nach rund 68 km in der Stadt Steyr in die Enns. In der Stadt Steyr mündet der kleinere Fluss (Steyr) von links in den größeren Fluss (Enns). Der Fluss Steyr hat durch die Mündung in den Ennsfluss seinen Namen an die Stadt abgegeben und der größere Fluss behält seinen Namen. **Zwischenbrücken** Dieser kleine Platz liegt zwischen der Enns- und der Steyrbrücke. Das letzte Haus ennsseitig ist die Löwenapotheke, mit einer schönen barocken Fassade. Durch einen gotischen Torbogen führt der Aufgang zum Schloss Lamberg. Das Fresko über dem Torbogen stellt die beiden Habsburger Kaiser Friedrich III. und seinen Sohn Maximilian dar. A couple of rules for fair play in the forest help to avoid conflicts whilst mountain biking. a.Pedestrians have the right of way: We are accommodating and friendly to pedestrians and hikers. Upon encountering these fellow travellers, we alert them by using the bicycle bell and slowly overtake them. We avoid paths with heavy pedestrian traffic altogether. Take nature into account: We do not leave refuse behind. b.The braking distance should be half of the total distance visible: We ride at a controlled pace, are ready to brake and maintain a braking distance half as long as the total distance visible, especially in curves, because we always have to count on obstacles on the path. Damage to the path, stones, branches, wood piles, grazing livestock, cattle grids, barriers, tractor-type forestry machines and authorised vehicles pose dangers that we need to be ready for. c.Don’t drink and drive!: Do not drink alcohol when mountain biking. Take care at stop-off points (dealing with bike racks, dirty shoes or clothing). It is obligatory to provide first aid! d.Marked routes, closed paths and blockades: Keep to the marked routes, observe the blockades and accept that these roads are primarily for agricultural and forestry use! Blockades can often not be avoided and are in your own interest. Biking beyond the intended path and outside of opening times is punishable and turns us into illegal bikers. e.We are guests in the forest and behave accordingly, including vis-à-vis forestry and hunting staff. Whilst mountain biking, mobile telephones and music players are forbidden! Biking requires your full attention. f.Avoid unnecessary noise. Out of consideration to the animals living in the wild, we only bike during full daylight. As a principle, we always wear our helmet (even when riding uphill)! Don’t forget emergency supplies: We always have a repair set and bandages along. g.Don’t overestimate your skills: We should not overdo it when it comes to biking technique and physical fitness. Take the level of difficulty posed by the route into consideration and make a precise estimate of your experience and skills as a biker (braking, bell, lights)! h.Close gates: We approach grazing livestock at a walking pace and close every gate behind us. We should avoid causing escape and panic reactions in the animals.
